“Wassup everyone!

Thanks for stopping by our page! My name is Andres (he/him), and I’m a 22-year-old queer person of color born and raised in Long Beach, California.

I started this brand back in high school with a dream: to build a community around creativity. I’ve always loved art in all its forms—whether it’s jewelry-making, painting, or simply expressing myself through design and movement. I’m into nature, crystals, meditation, music creation, and poetry.

A fun fact about me, I love working with kids! For the past few years, I’ve dedicated my life to youth work. I’ve led after-school programs, worked as an ABA therapist, and now I run fun run fundraisers to help schools reach their goals. Uplifting the next generation is something I care deeply about, and that passion flows into everything I do—including this brand.

This brand began with simple thoughts like, “That would look dope on a shirt” or “That should be a ring.” But over time, I realized this could be more than just products—it could be a space for growth, creativity, and empowerment.

I truly believe in the power of community to inspire individual and collective healing. I hope that the space I’ve created here feels safe, welcoming, and empowering. I’m excited to see what we can grow together!”

With love,

Andres Romero

Our Founder

We’re so glad you’re here. Let us take you back to where it all began…

Our logo? It actually started as an accident.

The spray-painted piece was created freestyle by Andres on April 25, 2020, during a moment of deep self-expression. What was meant to be a bear turned out to look more like a koala—and it stuck. The red, drippy eyes? They were meant to reflect pain and emotional blindness—the kind of pain society can inflict on individuals and communities. Think about how vision blurs when you're crying, how eyes turn red when emotions spill over. That image became a symbol of struggle, emotion, and resilience—raw, honest, and real.

It wasn’t until August 24, 2020, that this painting became the logo for our brand. We officially launched our first Etsy shop on October 16, 2020, a date we now celebrate as the birth of Koalax Official.

Fast forward to today—this website marks a big step in our evolution, moving from Etsy to our own platform where we can grow our inclusive, community-based safe space.

But Koalax is more than a brand—it’s a movement.

Our Story

We’re building something deeper: a space for growth, creativity, and empowerment.

We are planning on hosting community fundraisers and offering applications for mutual aid, offering grants (housing assistance, DACA fees, textbook assistance, immigration legal assistance etc), workshops, clothing swaps, food drives and anything else we see along the way that we can come together on.

If you've been here since 2020, genuinely thank you for being here through the ups and downs. We will do amazing things together!"

At first, we looked to other brands and tried to follow in their footsteps. But over time, we realized that our path is different. We’re not chasing a one-size-fits-all version of success—we’re reimagining it. Human-first. Community-rooted. Growth-focused.

We believe in giving back, staying connected to our supporters, and lifting each other up. Because at the end of the day, we’re nothing without the community that surrounds us.

Thank you for being a part of this journey.
Welcome to Koalax Official.
