Tips, Tricks and Questions :
Q: Is your Duckie Rubber too rough with too much resistance?
A: Warm the rubber slightly.
Gently heat it with a hair dryer for 10–15 seconds. Warm rubber becomes more pliable and easier to pierce cleanly. Avoid overheating — it should be warm, not soft or tacky.
🪡 Using the 12G Needle for Thick Rubber/Vinyl/Silicone
Prep the area first.
Clean the rubber surface and mark where you want the piercing. Warming the area slightly (with a hair dryer or warm hands) makes it easier to pierce.Pierce with the sharp end of the 12G needle.
Push and gently twist the sharp end through the rubber until the point exits cleanly on the other side. Go slowly and steadily — don’t force it.Insert the jewelry into the blunt end of the needle.
Once the needle is through, slide the piercing (ring, bar, or stud) into the hollow blunt end of the needle. Make sure it’s snugly seated so it doesn’t slip out.Guide the needle out while feeding the jewelry in.
Place one finger on the jewelry end (to hold it steady) and use your other hand to slowly pull the needle out from the sharp end.
As the needle comes out, the jewelry will follow through the newly made hole — leaving a clean, even placement.Adjust and secure the jewelry.
Once the needle is fully removed, gently rotate or align the jewelry so it sits evenly. Avoid pulling or twisting too hard; thick rubber can stretch slightly but should not tear.Check for fit and stability.
If the hole feels too tight or shows stress marks, remove the jewelry and slightly widen it before reinserting.
